20-year old Irish rider Bertram Allen had a smashing weekend at the Swedish International Horse Show in Stockholm. Everybody knows this youngster is a great talent. This year he also got nominated for ‘Longines FEI rising star’ but Jessica Mendoza won. But let’s face it: this guy has made such an impact on the international jumping circuit while he’s still only 20 years old. In 2015, he has won over 20 international competitions and came third in the Longines FEI World Cup Final 2015, winning the first round of the event. He was the youngest rider to compete in Jumping at the FEI World Equestrian Games 2014 coming 7th overall. And back there in Caen he proved to be a very fast rider too. He won the opening class which was a speed class with Molly Malone. But he’s also great with his other horses like Quiet Easy. Bertram was first to go in the speed class on Saturday, which is not really an advance, but he just went for it. His time was unbeatable. He earned himself a brand new Volkswagen but that was just the start of the weekend.
On Sunday Bertram rode Quiet Easy in the Grand Prix. He was one of the six riders to qualify for the jump-off. Only three riders managed a double clear round and Bertram was the fastest, again. So he earned himself another Volkswagen but that was not enough. He also got rewarded as ‘leading rider’ and guess what he won? Yes, another car! So it’s quite an understatement to say that Bertram Allen had quite a great experience at the Swedish International Horse Show. And Bertram is not the only talent in the family. He posted a video of his little brother on Facebook. ‘Second win for Harry and Wild Thing this week’, he wrote. You can see the video if you click HERE and let’s say, we’ll guess the brothers will be facing some sensational jump-offs against each other within some years.
