Sad news for all dressage lovers out there. There were rumours before the World Equestrian Games started and a month ago the beautiful liver chestnut stallion left Langehanenberg’s yard but there was no official announcement until today. Today the owner’s lawyer announced that the partnership between Langehanenberg and Damon Hill NRW has come to an end. Normally the contract was until the Olympics in Rio in 2016 but the owner Christian Becks and rider Helen Langehanenberg couldn’t agree on the contract terms.
Personally I think this was one of the most sparkling and perfect combinations to watch. I loved seeing them out there in the arena and I love the fact that Langehanenberg was always so positive about the horse. “He’s just so easy to ride. I really love him“, she told me at Jumping Mechelen last year. And there is the wonderful one liner she told the press at the WEG. “Damon is like a little dog. If he wasn’t that big, I would pick him up and he would be sitting next to me on the couch. He’s just perfect.”
